FAQ 10: Who can register?

TrailWise registration may be available to anyone who is in broad agreement with the aims and objectives of the project, who wishes to see all rights of way recorded at their highest justifiable status and sustainably managed. Use of TrailWise is also subject to agreement and compliance with the TrailWise Terms of Use.

It is a general principle of TrailWise that all information entered can be traced to an identifiable individual. We will not allow anonymous users, and potential users should be aware that they will have to provide some basic information to obtain a registration - real name, postcode etc. This kind of information about you will always be held and used only as described in the 'Data Privacy' FAQ.

Members of Eligible Bodies (see the 'Eligible Bodies' FAQ) are entitled to a registration as part of their membership of that organisation. In most cases, self-registration can be carried out online (see the 'Register Online' FAQ).

TrailWise may offer access to officers of relevant organisations and authorities.

Members of certain other bodies may also be offered access, but this may be at a 'guest' level - with access to fewer TrailWise resources.

Individuals who are not members of any kind of body may not be entitled to register at all. To encourage responsible use and shared good practice, we would like all potential users of TrailWise to consider joining an appropriate group or body.
