I have tried to register online without success - Why is that, and what can I do?

Here are some possible reasons for failure when registering online.

A) - You have not joined an Eligible Body and are trying to get access to which you are not entitled.
Join an Eligible Body!
For more information about Eligible Bodies see the 'Eligible Bodies' FAQ.
For other ways to join TrailWise see the 'Who can have ...' FAQ.

B) - You have entered your validation details wrongly.
Check your organization's membership card, and look for commonly confused characters in your postcode or registration key. You're trying to match what your key issuer typed to generate your code. Most postcodes contain a space, which should be included too.

C) - The details your membership secretary has on file for you are wrong.
This means that they would create an incorrect key for you. Contact your membership secretary. Your details will have to be corrected in the club's records file, and a new key issued; only your membership secretary (or their delegated key issuer) can do that.

D) - If the system reports that you already have a TrailWise registration -

  • You DO already have a registration (or have had one before)?
You are only allowed to create one TrailWise registration. If you have forgotten your password for your existing account, details of how to obtain a new temporary password one can be found in the 'Forgotten password' FAQ
  • You are attempting to register with a username that has already been taken?
Try a different username, you have the choice here.
  • You are attempting to register with an email address already associated with a registration?
TrailWise allows an email address to be used with only one individual registration; you can't share within a household for example. Give a unique email address.

E) - Your own browser settings may be preventing you
Your browser (Internet Explorer, Firefox, etc.) needs to be set to accept Cookies from TrailWise. See the 'Data Protection' FAQ for more info about how we use browser cookies.
