How do I find my way around TrailWise ?

The following information is intended to assist new users get started with TrailWise. As the system contains many features only the basics are included here.

Navigation around TrailWise is accomplished mostly by using the menu buttons which are always displayed on the left of the screen. The top set of buttons relate to general system functions, whereas the lower set are about the trails and tracks data.

Standard buttons in the top section include:
Home displays the TrailWise home page, with news and updates.
FAQ or Frequently Asked Questions lead to our help pages. Always check here if you're having difficulties, and please do let us know if they can be improved!
Contact allows anyone to send an message or enquiry to the system administrators
My Details allows you to keep your personal information up to date.
Track Options allows you to find and inspect the tracks information. Different levels of user may find different options are available.
Search / View is the most useful lead into finding the data you want, from a name or location.
Browse Maps offers an alternative way to view the data, overlaid onto standard maps.
Find! enables quickly jumping to a known reference, either a track ID or an OS map reference.

In many cases, more options are given on pages where appropriate ; for example, Edit facilities within 'My Details', which in turn includes Change Password.
Within the track information, other options are provided when appropriate - for example to see more detail about a particular item, or to see adjacent tracks.

Throughout the system will be found extra controls to reveal a bit more information. 'Question mark' icons will offer brief help and advice on a nearby item when hovered over or clicked. (i) icons offer supporting detail when clicked.

Note that some features are only made accessible to system users of particular status, so you may find features and options which are not available to you or 'greyed out'. For example some track data can only be altered by experienced users, after it has been confirmed already accurate.
