Within TrailWise, a FEATURE is some physical object of interest to potential users of a route

Most often, Features include things like signposts, milestones & waymarks; gates, bridges & fords - things we can refer to as route 'furniture'.

Some Features may also represent a 'problem' to some viewers; like stiles or deep fords, or deliberate obstruction like a locked gate. TrailWise allows the highlighting of a Feature as causing a problem, and indication as to what kind of user would be affected - walkers, cyclists etc.

Features also include other points of interest; a historic site or a picnic area - things not necessarily directly associated with a TrailWise Track.
