I have a letter about a route. Where should I put such information in TrailWise ?

A letter, say from a Local Authority or Landowner, could be useful evidence about a particular route's status (or lack of!). It may relate to a group of routes or just part of one; it may be positive or negative depending on your viewpoint; it may be relatively insubstantial or proof positive. In all cases though, if you think something constitutes useful evidence about a route, you should add a reference to it to TrailWise. Letters, maps, photos, book references, court transcripts; all may be relevant and help build complete pictures.

So, treat as EVIDENCE which is a kind of data TrailWise recognises. The important points, and location or custodian of the original letter (or other document) should be recorded. This EVIDENCE record can be attached to just one Track, or more likely you can go on to associate it with other track segments too.

Adding evidence in this way helps other TrailWise users to develop a confident understanding of the status or history of the routes, especially when taken in conjunction with evidence added by others. If we each add a little, we all get a lot!
