If you believe that a track entry in TrailWise is incorrect, you could refer that track to our administrators using the 'Contact' form. However, some track information you can often correct yourself such as recorded status, obstructions, etc.
Do it Yourself
When viewing a Track's details, small icons appear in the right hand margin which lead to both extended details and also in many cases a means to edit existing data or add new items.
Typically, you will be able to-
- Adjust the endpoints of a track
- Add, correct or remove intermediate waypoints
- Add or correct Name relating to the track (e.g. "Mill Lane")
- Add or correct Restrictions (e.g. a TRO)
- Add or correct Features (Bridges, Gates, etc)
- Change the Surface type (Gravel, Sand etc)
- Add or correct Definitive Map, or List of Streets data (e.g. "Muddley BOAT 24" or "U2295")
- Add or correct Evidence (Old map representations, tithe documents, etc.
Tell Us about it
If you are not confident about editing details, or are not able to, please do refer the issue to our administrators.
Tracks should in any case be referred to admin for the following reasons:
- The track should be split into two parts.
- The track should be joined to a neighbour, there's no apparent reason for it to be in pieces.
- It is a duplicate of another track
- The data you would like to correct is locked against editing
- Comments and/or evidence have been entered wrongly by some other user
Please be sure to tell us exactly which track is involved, what the problem is, and how the new information can be verified! Thanks.
Locked information
If information is checked and verified by an authority or acknowledged local expert, it may be locked against accidental editing by ordinary users. If you do need to update such locked info, you will need to refer the issue to admin.
