What is a client application - how do I download one?

A client application is a piece of software that you install on your computer to allow you go gain extra functionality from TrailWise. The use of client apps can "open up" the information you obtain from the TrailWise site, in a very graphical way, making it much easier to view and understand. So long as you have suitable mapping software of your own to display the data with!

The only application currently in use is the 'Exporter', which allows you to download data from TrailWise and use it with your own mapping application on your PC or laptop. See 'Exporter' FAQ for more detail on how to use it.

DOWNLOAD the latest version of Exporter (1.03) from www.trailwise.org.uk/download/TrailWise_Exporter.zip

To install the Exporter, simply extract the small program from the dowloaded zip into a folder of your choice. Something like My Documents/TrailWise_exports perhaps.

If you get an initialisation error at this stage, see the 'I get an error ..' FAQ.

Then see the 'How do I use...' FAQ

To make any use of the Exporter you must have your own copy of one the 'target' mapping software applcations - presently either Memory Map or Anquet - and you must be a registered user of TrailWise.

You may already have an older version of the Exporter application intended for use with the obsolete Wayfinder system. That won't work with TrailWise, and you will need to download the new version.
