For details of how to obtain the Overlay Exporter see 'Client Apps' FAQ.
Once the Overlay Exporter has been installed on your machine you can run it by clicking on the Windows Start button on the task bar, then click Programs; TrailWise; Overlay Exporter. Note that it won't do anything useful unless you already have a Username and Password for a full registration in TrailWise.
The Exporter will fetch data from TrailWise that covers one Ordnance Survey lettered square at a time; that's an area of 100 x 100km designated by a two letter-code such as TQ. For more information on OS grid references see 'Grid Refs' FAQ
You will need to enter your TrailWise user name and password into the edit boxes by those names. This is the same user name and password combination you use to log in on the TrailWise web site. The Exporter program will remember your user name each time you run it, but not your password.
Then input the grid square to export. You can either type it in or select it from the drop down box. Choose the format you want the data to be saved in. Press the Export button and the program will connect to the TrailWise server and download an overlay for the requested grid square.
Once the data has finished downloading a dialog will appear for you to select where the exported data will be saved.
You should save the file ready to import into your chosen target software product using the instructions provided with that application. The current version only produces RXF files for use with Memory Map (http://www.memory-map.co.uk), and AEF files for use with Anquet (http://www.anquet.co.uk/). Note that TrailWise has no connection with any commercial map software products, and that export files are provided as a convienience for our users and are no endorsement of those software products.
Remember that the data you have downloaded is going out-of-date as soon as you have fetched it! You should repeat the Export process periodically to keep up to date with changes in TrailWise
